Trailer Park Boys. Fuck yeA, I did!

4 05 2010

It is with great happiness that I present Julian, Bubbles and Ricky in knitting.

I just have to weave in all the ends.  Guess what I’ll be doing at Stitch & Bitch tomorrow… It should only take forever.

I’m still looking for suggestions of who could be in this series of knitted Canadian pop cultural icons. Send me who you think should be included and why.  Like I said in my last post, I want a goodly number of relevant Canadians to render into intarsia for posterity.  Sort of.

The Great Canadian Pop Cultural Intarsia Series

1 05 2010

I’m looking for suggestions for who should be included in my series of Canadian Pop Cultural Icons. As I wrap up my Trailer Park Boys, I’ll be starting on Stompin’ Tom later in the week (if all goes as planned) and I’d like to have a queue ready so that when i finish one, I can move to the next. I’d like to have 6 or 8 and make an exhibition out of them.
So, who do you think should be included and WHY? I’d love your suggestions and I’d really love to know your reasoning. I’m looking for Canadians that are recognisable, relevant and… enduring, perhaps?
Ciao for now, peeps!

Resolutions…

I’m typing this in the dark and it’s pouring rain. I’m in my loft with only inches between me and the tin roof keeping out the deluge. I love that sound. It so loud. I love the way it comes in waves.
People are asking if I’m done my trailer park boys knitting. And why shouldn’t they, really? I only started it forever ago. Here’s the deal. I WILL finish it within the next 10 days, or I promise to… Well I’m not sure what I promise to do. It’s late and the white noise coming from the rain on the tin is making me really sleepy.
I’ll finish it though.
In the next 10 days.
And, after that, then guess what. Then I’m starting on a Stompin Tom panel. Yes I am. This one will be a bit smaller, but just as detailed. I’ll post pics as soon as they’re available.
Last thing before I check out for the night – and this is really fucking cool: http://www.yarnbombing.com/simply-unpredictable. You must check this out! I just found this today, but I totally had one of those “hey, there’s me!” moments. It was posted before I moved over to wordpress, but I’m okay with that. Here’s an official
THANKS! YOU ROCK!
to Leanne Prain and Mandy Moore.
Goodnight, y’all.

Trailer Park Boys – Slowly but Surely!

1 03 2010

So when I started this project, I had WAY more time and I could do 2 inches in one go, but this weekend I had time for 2 rows and that’s it.  So the progress is slow, but it’s coming along.  I think it’s starting to look REALLY FUCKING COOL! I’m super happy with it so I wanna show it off a bit.
Don’t worry though – I’m also working on a tree cozy for some little sapling that needs some love. Maybe up for tomorrow night after stitch n bitch.

Bonus pictures since I’m being slow with new shit.

I Love Lucy! That is all.
Actually, no, it’s not. Here’s a picture of my intarsia project…Um, this is the project I chose so that I could learn intarsia.  First time ever.  Overly ambitious? Maybe.  But I’m having a good time.  The Trailer Park Boys popped my intarsia cherry. I love you, Ricky (on theme), Julian and Bubbles (not on theme). Kitties are so nice! Kitties would love to play with my knitting.

You can see that I’m not the tidiest knitter in the world. It looks a bit like hamburger, doesn’t it?  Bobbins?!? Who the hell needs bobbins? I can make sense of it in all of it’s spaghetti-like splendor.  It’s done when you can throw it at a wall and it sticks, right?

Anyway, that’s how my brain works. Spastic or spacial.  You decide.

This is Sylvia9000, out.
